Capitol Opinions is dedicated to the proposition that democracy is best served by the free and open exchange of ideas. Not hyperbole, not shallow name calling or everything else that so fills the average media day but real ideas and arguments based on facts and honestly drawn opinions.

At Capitol Opinions, we invite you to join us in contributing articles on issues of the day. We won't censor your point of view. Right, left, center, up or down, we want you to be able to express yourself and make your ideas known to the world. We only have a few simple rules about our articles:

• Articles have to express ideas backed up with fact. Just because you say it, doesn't make it so.
• No profanity or ad-hominem attacks. It is OK to disagree with an author, even vehemently, but we must all respect our rights to our opinions.

For those of you who like discussions, join us in our forums. Talk about the articles, the news, or anything you like. We hope that you can keep an open mind and hear what others are saying and we implore you to be polite to each other. Before we are Right, Center, or Left, Democrat, Republican, or Other, Black, White or Other, Christian, Jew, Muslim or Other, we are all Americans. We live under the same Constitution and enjoy the same rights. Let's afford each other the respect we deserve.
